If you are a country without a formal mutual defense treaty with the United States, you should seek your own protection. Because non-treaty commitments mean absolutely nothing, as we are repeatedly learning.

If India, in Trudeau-style, had declared a national emergency and crushed peaceful protests, it would have faced some Western sanctions. But Trudeau's lurch to authoritarianism has been whitewashed by Western elites who rarely practice what they preach, including on human rights.
