Triggered some ppl here. Donating to good causes is good and makes sense to optimize per unit of donation. Amassing wealth unethically and justifying it to enable Effective Altruism ™️ or using it as a PR strategy is deeply cynical

If you want to sacrifice, buy & hold crypto, not as an investment, but as a statement for freedom & sovereignty. Sacrificing $ by transferring it to Richard is a poor way to make that statement, imo.

Dollar cost averaging is a good strategy to build long term value from your crypto holdings. If you view crypto as a moral statement instead of an investment decision, you will be regularly buying crypto, as you believe in the mission statement.

As a concrete example, think about those that advocated for net neutrality, and then flipped to push hard for content moderation. They switched their values. Others kept advocating free speech all along. And often switched their tribe.

When universal values spell the defeat of your particular tribe, you can switch your values, switch your tribe, deny that you’re losing, or accept that you’ve lost. All of these responses can be observed today.
