Stop trying to build an emotional connection with people who are emotionally disconnected from themselves. It won't work because they can't give you what they can't give themselves; you are self-aware, they are self-avoidant. Start letting go of your emotional attachment to them.

If they are not interested, they will lack effort. When you stop accepting the minimum and start demanding more from them, you will lose them. That's okay. Being alone is better than being in a one-sided relationship where you are always giving and getting very little in return.
