I know integration testing is all the rage in front-end these days, but I’m still pretty convinced by the value of unit testing components. The value isn’t in the tests you create, but in the clean API boundaries you are forced to make.

I wish there were better visibility into the state of the DOM while working on tests with @TestingLib. Sometimes it is unable to find an element but it’s not clear what has happened. Are interactive there devtools I don't know about?

I am looking for a good photo storage solution. I’d like for it to be affordable, durable, and also where I own/control the data. A hard drive at my house is too risky but paid services like Google Photos I don’t trust and are pricy.

If you’ve tried TDD and it didn’t click, try focusing ruthlessly on the refactoring part of the red-green-refactor. Don’t get in the habit of red-green-red-green-red-green.

Is anyone working on a way to run front-end UI tests faster than existing tools? There has been a big push for performance in the world of JS tooling — who is working on the JSDOM replacement that is 10x faster?

The open source model (PRs, issues, etc) is a local optimum under the constraint of being unable to trust all contributors. Your team at work is free from those constraints. Take advantage of it!

One of the best pieces of advice about narrowing stories I’ve seen came from @rslawrence: Replace all the variables with constants. Every story should describe a single linear path, with zero choices or branches, from start to finish. If there is a choice, that’s a second story.

If you use Tailwind CSS in your design system, do you allow consumers to directly use the utility classes? Or is TW an implementation detail encapsulated by the design system? What are the pros/cons here? @adamwathan for an opinion
