Temperatures are rising and as fields dry out this week planting will likely begin in some parts of Arkansas. This is going to be a good window to get planters dialed in the bugs worked out. Reminder to set corn planters at 2” deep on every row unit.

These drone shots of a soybean field are a great example of soybeans being photoperiod sensitive. The street lights provided continuous light and plants under them continued vegetatively. Note photo on left where the pole blocked the light and soybeans matured normally.

Quite a bit of sodium chlorate going out this week in the bootheel. Try to get to that rice within 5 days of application. Mid-South data shows significant loss of grain and milling yield possible when harvest is delayed to 7 days after salting.
