@_devJNS we're all self taught if you really think about it
@_devJNS 100% yes A research says you only retain 20% of what they teach you, 80% of what you learned yourself
@_devJNS That's just how it is, you learn by doing not by going to school, going to school is just for making friends.
@_devJNS Sort of true. Curiosity and inner drive set you out to investigate and acquire knowledge/craft on your own.
@_devJNS The more you learn, the more you realise that there are concepts you don't fully understand. Thus pushing you to learn more to master those concepts, which then opens new avenues you can learn to improve. Each iteration hones your skill and craft.
@_devJNS Definitely, no one in the world was taught something and became smarter, since the teacher was the smartest, hence they are self-taught to be above all.
@_devJNS Self-teaching shows you're learning because you want to, not because you have to
@_devJNS True, school gives you a foundation, you have to be curious to build something
@_devJNS My highschool was terrible (they pretended to teach). It was a social club. I was always intrested in strategic games though, that led to poker, that led me to learning math to improve and that later led to learning code. Don't let your schooling get in the way of your education.
@_devJNS School just helps give you direction and teaches you how to learn but after that the power is in your hands
@_devJNS Fact. School can only take you so far you’ve gotta have some personal input. Only learning what is on the curriculum a recipe for mediocrity in any field
@_devJNS True learning happens when you're genuinely curious, not when someone forces you to memorize.
@_devJNS Every degree comes with fine print: ‘Some assembly required.’
@_devJNS dont take screenshot give your reply to it , mine is yes.
@_devJNS the skills you learn yourself becomes imprinted on your subconsciousness. and then, you can even do that thing with your eyes closed.
@_devJNS Very very true.... No one is a better teacher to you than you!!
Correct. That does not kill the importance of school, socialising etc. But good grades don’t necessarily mean you understand stuff. Back in the day (people born let’s say 85-90) strategic games were so cool that you were like 10-12 yrs old and you got lecture basics about costs, expenses, profit, scaling if you did not use cheat codes. (Example: transport tycoon, pizza tycoon, rollercoaster tycoon (this one even had customer service basics hidden inside 😂) etc) Later at university Linkedin was like an open library how to create business, CEOs and COOs explaining things in simple language to those willing to read, comments were questions not just claps etc).. probably read thousands of arricles, posts..Then platform changed a bit when masses of sales people entered the chat 😂. Nowadays you have best learning tool known to a mankind in Grok. But it takes more than 2 prompts, you gotta go deep and in specifics and you can learn whatever you are interested in. School is generalised and doesn’t know what you want, that is on you.
@_devJNS Big agree with this. I got a degree but it was all a formality because I learned more at an internship and on my own.
@_devJNS True learning comes from intentionality, "what we learn ourselves".
@_devJNS You can learn almost anything on your own now. all resources are a pocket away. When you learn things on your own, you are completely free to explore, question, and dissect.
@_devJNS I learnt almost nothing at school instead I learnt about porn and hentai... Lol ... Today all I know that is meaningful is due to self study at home ...
@_devJNS We are all self taught. It's not like in Matrix, you get a cord in your brain and 5 minutes later you wake up "I know Kung Fu"
@_devJNS Schooling taught me HOW to learn. Was never there for the piece of paper - which turned out to be mainly worthless.
