I have had so many bad website experiences in the UK. I am not someone who would normally need accessibility and many things are just broken or impossible. I actually used a screen reader to access a button I could not with touch.

As far as I know, the project actually got canned. Jack genuinely didn’t like it. I don’t know if this mindset will hold true with the new owner of Twitter though. I would assume Elon will do far worse things with the data.

It constantly amazes me the lengths organisations will go to for the smallest increases in metrics, yet do not invest in accessibility. Even after you point out that approx 20% of people worldwide identify as having a disability, and accessibility improves usability for all users

They found the cause of SIDS THEY FOUND THE CAUSE OF SIDS Excuse me while I cry for all the parents, including lead researcher Dr Carmel Harrington, who lived with guilt. And cry happy tears for parents in the future who will have access to screening and prevention. 😭

#JavaScript frameworks let you use different UI libraries for ease of development. However, a lot of these libraries are horridly inaccessible. If you choose to use a UI library, you are responsible for the content! Do your research, and choose wisely! #A11y #Accessibility

I feel like there are fewer and fewer people who respect or even understand nuance these days. I feel nuance is very important when it comes to digital accessibility, but there are many who prefer to consider things in black and white terms.

If we’re calling people “diversity hires” then I would like to also coin the term “homogeneity hire”: A person who is hired, not because they were the best, but because they were the same. Used in a sentence: “Mike hired another Mike - he’s probably a homogeneity hire🤭”

What are everyone's thoughts on alt text for linked images (links with only an image for content)? Common convention seems to be to only describe the link not the image - but I haven't found much advice for when the linked images provide information beyond the link purpose #a11y
