Every other dystopia/utopia we read in K-12 English is a boogeyman, too simple by half, used to make kids realize how good they have it. Le Guin treats her readers with maturity and says "it'd be better in these ways, worse in these ways, different in these -- do you want it?"

if mason wasn't already disgusting enough he's got grant on his stream right now casting with him. "it's just a character" is always said when masons shit behaviour gets brought up- if this doesn't prove that wrong i don't know what will.
