Our new paper provides contemporary population estimates of four #petrel species on #MacquarieIsland - the first since #InvasiveSpecies eradication. Antarctic Prions are most widespread and we found many new colonies of recolonising Blue and Grey Petrels. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Joined @BobBrownFndn surveying Critically Endangered Swift Parrots in Tasmania's old growth forests under imminent threat of logging. This bird visiting its nest is in forest due to be clear-felled in 2022.

Thanks for sharing this @Karen_Seabirds. In hindsight I regretted not presenting this work @Seabirders #WSC3. Mostly we still to use population estimates to detect trends, but to often their statistical power to do that is low. It's important to be rational when a study begins.
