Did you know that, in autistic and SPD brains, normal sensory inputs are often re-routed toward the area of the brain that processes pain? This explains why so many of us are sensory sensitive. Let me know if you'd like more info on this and I'll create a post😊
My "high functioning autism" is basically everyone else seeing me as "completely normal but maybe just a bit picky/particular"... while internally it's me in constant sensory overload, social overload, and fighting against my executive dysfunction to just do stuff

Autists may find Christmas overwhelming. It’s the: presents (new things can be scary, yet there’s a pressure to look ecstatic), extra people (noise and social stimulation), lights and food smells (sensory overload), routine change (a lot to process) and more. Please be gentle. ❤️
When ill, neurodivergent people may become overstimulated by the symptoms of their illness, rendering them unable to carry on as usual. Even a slight cold - a stuffy nose and scratchy throat - can be a lot to process when you’re in tune with your body and notice every difference.
I woke up on Monday morning, yawned and dislocated my jaw... Starting my week in A&E with my jaw hanging open for 4 hours wasn't the plan😭 Hope everyone is having a slightly more successful week!
