Jun 28 1969 - Early morning, New York police raided the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, a popular LGBT venue. The attack led to 6 nights of riots & gave birth to a militant movement for gay liberation. Two years later the first Pride march took place in NY on the same date.
