I wonder if there will be a delay before AI takes white collar jobs from 2nd and 3rd world countries that may not be able to handle the electric toll. Maybe American workers struggling to find work in their industry will emigrate 🤔

I read Google's paper about their quantum computer so you don't have to. They claim to have ran a quantum computation in 5 minutes that would take a normal computer 10^25 years. But what was that computation? Does it live up to the hype? I will break it down.🧵

Compilers was was known to be the hardest CS class at Cornell which was hard as it is. We were handed a 8-page PDF at the start of sem for a language spec we'd be implementing by the end of sem, split into 6 parts. On part 5, the median was a 0/100 and most the class failed.

I'm telling you. We're reaching a breaking point. Linux is the release valve. AI is great, but plenty of people don't want it jammed into every orifice of their OS. With the corporate options, you're getting that whether you like it or not.

“Network Error” is the bane of my existence. When sitting behind a corporate entity of firewalls and proxies, it’s that much worse. What’s the problem? Virus scanner? Firewall? Proxy? User agent? IP? Ports? Certificate?—Secret?—Password?—CA? Am I the only one?

Yesterday Amazon released llrt, their own JS runtime. If I'm counting correctly, that makes 14+ JS Runtimes for JavaScript → Node.js (V8) → Deno (V8) → Bun (JavaScript core - webkit's engine) → Workerd (Cloudflare, V8) → llrt (Amazon, V8) → WinterJS (Wasmer, Spider…
