I have contacted the mayor and every councilor already and plan to be there bright and early tomorrow morning. So far only Mandelbaum has responded (and he did so very thoughtfully and comprehensively saying he would oppose). No other responses, even from my personal ward rep.

This is not a feel good story. As thankful as I am for the many, many people who provide these resources, this is 100% a government failure. We shouldn’t be taken care of via the whims of the rich. The government exists for this reason. To meet the needs of its citizens!

Hi! I was charged with 27 felonies 10 years ago. The judge let me go because he knew I was trying to survive & care for my elderly mom. I am now an epidemiologist & the ED of a nonprofit that has aided over 9000 women impacted by incarceration. Stop using felons as a cudgel.
