On 8th January 1942, Battle of Rzhev began, one of the bloodiest battles of WW2. In 2020, at the opening of Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier, official losses were announced. From October 1941 to March 1943, the Red Army lost 1.154.698 people (including wounded and missing).

In a 2002 op-ed in the WSJ, Kasparov called for the US to invade Iraq, Syria and Iran, and in 1991 during the run up to the gulf war, argued the US should drop an atomic bomb on Baghdad. Call me cynical but I’m not convinced “human rights” are his motivation here.
