Coincidental timing, it was communicated early last week that Reddit's CEO will not be at the all hands this week to answer any questions. #RedditLayoffs

Layoffs are still happening and will continue over the course of the next few weeks. Right now the people I am in contact with are anxious and under pressure. Suffice to say this was very poorly executed and improperly framed. #RedditLayoffs

Directors were asked to make a list of said cuts early Q4 2022. People had been reassured times at all hands that no layoffs were going to happen and that Reddit is still in growth/mode hiring. #RedditLayoffs

Framing the people who were laid off at Reddit as low performers is dishonest and shitty AF. Some were even recently promoted. What a way to honor your people. I would have expected better from Reddit. Thinking about all my former colleagues there #RedditLayoffs

“Google search” is something I never send off juniors to do or anyone who asks something that can be found online. Obviously they know what a search engine is. If they came to you it’s because they value your opinion and your time.
