One of the institutions I represent, had large fixed deposits with an Indian private bank. Try to ask for any service, even getting a cheque book takes weeks. All they want is , please buy high cost investment products or insurance. Or else they lose interest. Have tried…

Completely agree. I must say from personal experience that Union Bank of India has better net banking than HDFC. (Have accounts in both banks)

PS banks should stop printing pass books. The "so called" highest "CASA" private bank has no provision of pass book.
