What is marketing? You tell people about the thing you’re trying to sell Everything else flows from that Which people do you tell? What are their interests? Where do they live? Where do they hang out? (Targeting) Do we tell them through images? Do we write something? Do we make a video? (Medium of communication) Do they already know about this product? Do they already know the problem we’re trying to solve? How do we tell them in a way that they can become aware of our product? (Stages of awareness) Where do we tell them to buy this? From our website? From a store? From a showroom? (Distribution) How will they remember us once we tell them? How will they identify us in a positive way? What are the things we are promising? What do we tell them about our values and why should they pick us over others? (Branding) In all of this, I have just tried to write how I think about marketing. Without any jargon. Does this make it easy? No. You still have to figure a lot out. But I feel that jargon does not help. Simplifying ideas in my own head and trying to get rid of jargon has always been helpful for me so I thought I would share it here as well. If I have missed anything, please do add it! I would love to keep learning more about what should be added and how it should be simplified. Thank you so much for reading! P. S. I would love to know how you’ve broken down and simplified the concepts around marketing in your own head
