tech has our own version of standardised tests, and it's called leetcode. I've seen quite a few people who come from bottom-quartile income households as kids who now earn well over 500k/year in part because standardised recruiting at scale allows companies to send out mass algo Qs without selectivity filtering for only the top colleges (read, expensive!)
