Expressions and sayings are a huge part of #Sardinian language and culture. In the most popular #Sardinian Facebook groups, elderly people love to simply post them and find out who else knows them. At @academiasardu we've been tapping into this trend with sardu.wiki.

At @academiasardu we know writing books and dictionaries is useful to revitalize #Sardinian, but practising is essential! That's why we also give courses and regularly organise practitioners' meetings. We are currently running introductory classes for both macrovarieties.

The software also handles links to other data that any user can upload in sardu.wiki, such as audio recordings. The website integrates an audio recorder for this. Note that this data is also verified by @academiasardu before it can appear on a page! 9/9

Our book #SuSarduStandard details @academiasardu's research on a standard for #Sardinian. United by common core orthographic rules, the two norms (one per macrovariety) are based on the historical koineization process driven by Sardinian oral poetry. buff.ly/3JfndKA

Almost every municipality in #Sardinia has a #SardinianLanguageDesk. Often, these are serviced by young but skilled language experts who have to cover multiple municipalities on their (sadly) low-pay contract jobs. These officers translate municipal meetings into Sardinian...

@academiasardu #IsArrègulas was made the official language reference manual across most of Southern Sardinia institutions in 2010. Since then, an online community has developed around it mostly on #Facebook: examples are the group "Scrieus in Campidanesu" and the blog bideas.org.

Overall, those of #Campidanese and #LogudoreseNugorese are two categories that can overlap in part. At @academiasardu we want to protect both, as symbolized by our logo of the double mask, by providing tools and policy proposals to restart intergenerational language transmission.

One of the most interesting applications of #computerscience and #maths to #linguistics is #dialectometry. Hans Goebl from the University of Salzburg pioneered this field that allows us to study differences and similarities between dialects quantitatively and rigorously.
