Good advice here. Concerning talk of “liberal drift” or various other sensational claims, it’s worth noting that there were deaconesses in the early primitive church, in Calvin’s Geneva, and the practice has been an accepted part of the Reformed tradition for a very long time.

If you are going to enter into the suffering of those who have been traumatized, you have to learn how to sit with and listen to fear, anger, and great grief with compassion and understanding. You will also have to learn how to do it for far longer than you prefer.

TWICE today tried to order a gift for one of my son’s friends on @Academy. Said it was in stock for in store pickup. TWICE order is cancelled after I get to each store and they actually DONT have it! Not great online service.
