The myth of avoiding premature optimisation is quoted out of context. Coders, remember that the less lines of code you write means less machine instructions to execute which translates to faster execution. Less is more

Wow, I built OpenSSL the other day for Windoze and it was painful. Doing it for Android is beyond awful. And people think 'make' was bad. The build instructions are pitiful. Sorry, but it's worse than almost any open source project I've had to build in years.

PSA: absolute positioning considered harmful. On multiple teams in multiple companies I've had to explain how absolute positioning works. It takes the content out of the flow people, so the browser will not paint what's out of the main document bounds. Use it sparingly, if ever.

So, over in the US, Google has committed to building 3 nuclear reactors of ~600MW each to power data centres with zero carbon power. But here in Oz, we ridicule people that suggest nuclear power is a good baseload option on the basis of cost but still burn gas/coal. WTF?

PSA: Code compiled into WASM will run slower than compiled to a native target. I've been asked by many people recently - "isn't WASM as fast as native?". No, it isn't - it's sandboxed and good, but not optimal due to (a) sandbox constraints; and (b) a basic intermediate ISA
