Many physical therapists like to using complex vocabulary, especially if it came from the “system” they were taught. They often use it to show how intelligent they are. But true intelligence is when you can clearly communicate ideas, no matter what word choice you use

Great vid showing how complex pitching injuries really are. Huge risk/reward component to it. Not as simple as just throw less sweepers or change the mechanics.

The Pareto principle applies to PT Whether it’s knee pain, shoulder pain, ACL, or low back pain. 80% of the results will come 20% of the interventions. Use this to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

I’m coming across more people who are considering rehabbing their ACL tear without surgery. One question I ask them to reflect on is: If you get 6 months down the line, it doesn’t work & you decide to have surgery, would you have regretted your decision?

It takes <0.15 seconds to decelerate the knee when landing from a jump. ACL rehab is not just about building strong quads. It’s also about how fast you can activate that strength.

Pt last week flared up her knee pain. Told her to take the week off from loaded exercises and just focus on ROM. She was concerned it would set her back. This week she’s doing better than ever. Sometimes we got to take one step back so we can take two steps forward.

Quad index >90% + waiting at least 9 months after ACL reconstruction means chances of re-tearing goes from 38% down to 5%. A SIGNIFICANT drop. Unfortunately I’m still meeting athletes who were cleared before 8 months without a quad index.

One pattern I’ve noticed in treating patients: Outcomes are better when I focus my interaction around getting them to believe they can get better. There’s actually a lot we do, subconsciously, that takes away their belief.

Physical therapy is a job, not a career. Job = you’re trained to do a specific task, and that’s it Career = you’re paid for your results or there’s a path for senior/leadership positions We are a cog in the wheel of our healthcare system
