Language matters.
A fraction is 1 number, not 2
Helping students understand that 3/12 is actually three one-twelfths is key to thinking fractionally.
We wouldn’t call 12 “one beside two”
So we shouldn’t call 1/12 “one over twelve”

A kid fell asleep during a quiz. I encouraged him to wake up and work, but he refused. At the end of the day, he asked if he could finish the quiz tomorrow. At first, I thought ABSOLUTELY NOT, but then I remembered that second chances are more important than proving my point.
