Attended the #Coldplay concert last evening at #Ahmedabad and it was so well managed. Despite having over 1,00,000 people in attendance, at no point in time crowd management was an issue. Kudos to the organizers and local administrators who did a splendid job.

#India will add 179m people to its working age population by 2045 which should provide significant tailwind for economic growth while China will lose 103m people thru d same period. No wonder India’s weightage in MSCI EM index has gone up to 20% (vs China’s 22.8%) from 8% in 2020

#Infosys pays a measly amount of Rs 20,000 to every employee who completes 20 years working with the company! Their joining salary (3.5l PA) hasn’t changed over the last 15 years. You can’t attract good talent with such bad HR policies. They are happy playing the arbitrage game!

As per ET India is facing a shortage of long haul truck drivers and there are about 20lac trucks not being driven actively owing to shortage of drivers. Find it difficult to believe that people are not taking up a job which pays 20-25k/ month (ET estimate). What a dichotomy!

#Blinkit is killing #Amazon. Wife needed an electronic gadget for a trip tomorrow morning and I was pleasantly surprised to find the same on Blinkit at a similar price like Amazon with the promised delivery date post 80 hrs on Amazon while Blinkit delivered it in 8 minutes:)

#ICICIbank taking desperate measures of sending their staff to homes of shareholders asking them to vote in favour of proposed delisting of #ICICISecurities . Looks like they are expecting the voting to go against them. Hopefully @SEBI_India will take note of this.

#Theobroma is opening their outlet tomorrow in #Meerut. Aggressive expansion by QSR players r taking them into tier 2 cities like Meerut. What will be interesting to watch out is if they can make these stores profitable as established players like #Dominoes r already struggling

Bharat is influencing new startups. There is an Indian app #Animall focusing on dairy farmers and for people engaged in animal husbandry. It has so far sold more than 1.5m cattle on its platform with a gross transaction value of Rs 7,500 crore! Has over 4m cattle listed for sale!

A friends car broke down on a holiday trip & we were discussing pros & cons of taking road side assistance (RSA) packages as part of insurance yesterday evening. Today morning I received a phone call frm a company selling me RSA!! Scary as I hadn’t done any web searches on this😢

Aggregate technical & commercial (AT&C) losses of Indian distribution utilities (discoms) have come down from 24.8% in FY15 to 16.5% in FY22. That’s a significant decline & should help improve bleeding discoms. Hope these numbers represent the actual on the ground situation

Huge queues at immigration at Delhi airport with waiting time of over 45 mins. Almost 40% counters are closed which is leading to long wait times. Not sure why can’t we have more people man these counters. @DrSJaishankar @JM_Scindia

India’s top 4 IT companies #TCS, #Infosys, #HCLTech & #Wipro together had a net addition of only 2,000 employees in Dec 22 quarter, the lowest in 11 quarters. Dec 21 quarter had 61,137 net additions! Reminds of the cardinal rule of whatever goes up comes down:)

Wasn't aware that Amazon didn't allow sellers from Pakistan until May 21 to list their products on its website. Within a year of its launch Pakistan became the country with 3rd highest no. of sellers on Amazon behind USA & China. Many of these are running scamming outfits😀!!

India's household debt as a % of GDP is quite low @ 35% as compared to 80% in USA, 88% in Britain, 90% in Thailand. With increased credit penetration this will surely go up creating huge demand for consumption as well as capital goods. No doubt that India is the bright spot!!

Sea freight rates are correcting sharply and should help reduce costing of imported raw materials as freight rates had gone up almost 4-5x. They are still double pre covid levels and expectation is that they will further fall to pre covid levels.

It used to cost $2.2k to ship a 20ft TEU #container to New Jersey frm #Mumbai in pre covid times. Post covid it went to more than $10k thanks to #covid induced restrictions & more due to cartelisation. Today the cost is $4.2k. Will not be surprised if it breaches $2k by June 23
