🪨Super rare Neolithic large discoidal scraper made from slate 9cms in diameter. The scraper is in the style of the 'sun disks' of the Tenerian culture of North Africa. Evidence of the first pastoralists moving to Britain🐏🐑🌾

The helmet featured in my latest article on Cassivellaunus is based on an amazing find in North Bersted. Among the finds was a bronze helmet, with two large crests, one that would have been affixed from ear to ear, the other behind (not seen in my recreation).
The Heel Stone, seen in the distance, is also a sarsen like the great stones of the circle. But unlike them, it shows no signs of shaping suggesting it may have stood here naturally before being raised upright. ✨
Julius Caesar met his match in Gaul, a brilliant strategist who pushed Rome to the brink.
He united warring tribes and came closer than anyone to breaking the Roman war machine.
This is the story of Vercingetorix, the last great king of the Gauls and his famous last stand.
According to Bede, the early Anglo-Saxon name for September was Haligmonað, 'holy month' - perhaps because of rituals celebrating the end of harvest, or because it's the time of the autumnal equinox, when summer gives way to the dark half of the year.
See that ridge of flint cobble hidden in the grass there, in front of the fence? That's a Roman wall. Been here before and never noticed it. There is so much ancient history right under our noses on these Isles of Britain, if you know where to look
🪨🏞️Prehistoric roadtrip to @Museum_Pen for Landscape of Neolithic Axes. A great little museum that details the area's 5000 year history. Neolithic axes a speciality.

This is the Arraton down type axe carved on Stonehenge, and it came to mind as yesterday my blood pressure crash. I had a visual aura much the same as migraine suffers get, mine was a zigzag trope, life intimating art, years back i cast these axes at the visitors Center.
Ballycrovane Ogham stone in west Co Cork is an incredible upright in itself, 5.3 metres high. And then you have the ancient Irish inscription running up the side. Fantastic! #StandingStoneSunday
Britain’s 2nd tallest standing stones - The Devil’s Arrows, Yorkshire 😵💫
As-of-yet undated, but likely somewhere between 3800-3000 BC, they are part of the wider Thornborough landscape.

This marker stone sits on Carlton moor, North Yorkshire. It's medieval as opposed to neolithic - but it's still a beautiful stone in a stunning and lonely location
