Great class at Goju training last night. Bit of clinch work sparring for a warm up (we know how that goes 🤣) Followed by Sei Pai kata and quite a bit of time on application #gojuryu #karate

Thinking about gradings tomorrow. For the first time in a long time I’m going to miss our black belt gradings (my favourite, ever). Wishing I could be there but work commitments etc… Good luck to @julienisbet, Chris and Matthew on their 4th Dan gradings. You know the standards.

So today is officially my ‘fit to work’ day. Thanks God!! Even though I’m not actually on station till 1st Dec, it’s still a personal target achieved. So back in the gym it is. Don’t get daft lad…small steps 💪

Injury update. Rehab going well, shoulder is responding really well, thank god! Physio says another couple of weeks of rehab on my foot ligaments should do the trick! Light at the end of the tunnel 👍👍

So update on injuries. Find out off Physio that it was my left fibula that was broken and have ligament and tendon damage too. To make matters worse, right rotator cuff has gone and waiting on an MRI scan. When it rains…

Nice run out on the bike today. Over to County Durham to see my Sis then off to see my Dad, who wasn’t in (he’s always in)!!!!! Then back home with the accompianment of a fellow rider who stayed with me for a while. Nice to be back out on a bike 🏍️ #streettriple #triumph

Nice session in Goju last night. Some good kumite with the intensity turned up a notch (always my fave). Practice on Gekisai katas, Saifa and Seiunchin followed by some application and groundwork #gojuryu #karate

Really enjoyed Goju training tonight. Few rounds of Rendori kumite followed by a run through of the Gekisai katas folllowed by Shisochin and work on the bunkai. Full of bruises now!

Really warm session in the dojo tonight. Lower grades sharpening up details prior to next weeks gradings. Higher grades working on Kururunfa and Seisan katas and subsequent bunkai.

Big thanks to Les Bubka for the new Gi. Great fit and very practical, haven’t had a new black Gi in over 20 years. Fully recommend 👍

On a personal level it’s been a bit up and down year with my own training even with getting promoted to 7th Dan. Injuries taking their toll but ending the year on a high and looking forward to the new year and what it brings.

So tonight wraps up the last karate session of the year. In all it’s been a very productive year in both Anshin and Goju clubs. Very different systems but just the same in their approach, great to see.

Quiet class in Goju tonight, just a handful of us. Nice bit of kumite to start with followed by practice on the Gekisai katas then exploring bunkai on Sei Pai and Kururunfa. Wrist still playing up but it’s a loooong game 🤦‍♂️
