Have an evacuation plan. Know multiple routes out of your area, keep your vehicle fueled, and have a bug-out bag ready. Waiting until the last minute can trap you.
Don’t panic-buy. Build your preps steadily. Focus on water, food, medicine, and shelter first—then branch into extras. Panic leads to bad purchases.
Learn to preserve food: canning, dehydrating, smoking, fermenting. Store-bought preps run out. Home preservation extends your survival window.
Keep an emergency radio with AM/FM and NOAA weather alerts. Knowledge is power—and in disasters, it can be life-saving.

Power banks & solar chargers keep your comms alive. Even if the grid is down, you can stay connected for updates, navigation, and coordination.
Water is life. In an emergency, aim for 1 gallon per person per day—half for drinking, half for hygiene. Store in multiple containers, filter it, and keep purification tablets on hand. A well-hydrated survivor is a smart, strong survivor.
When building your food stockpile, think calories + comfort. Rice, beans, pasta, canned meats, and oats keep you going—but don’t underestimate chocolate, coffee, or spices. Morale matters as much as nutrition when days are long and stressful.
Blackouts test your real readiness. Learn to cook without electricity: rocket stoves, propane burners, solar ovens, and open fires. Practice before the power’s out, so you know exactly how to make a hot meal in the dark.
Two is one, one is none. If something is critical—water filter, fire starter, flashlight—have at least two backups in different locations. Gear breaks, batteries die, and without redundancy, your “plan” becomes a gamble.
Money in a crisis is more than cash—it’s small bills and barter items. ATMs may be down, and large bills are useless if no one can break them. Keep $1s, $5s, and $10s sealed in waterproof bags along with tradeable supplies like lighters or coffee
Security isn’t just about guns—it’s about awareness. Know your surroundings, fortify doors, keep a low profile, and avoid broadcasting what you have. The less others know, the safer you stay.
Skills beat gear. Learn to purify water, treat wounds, grow food, and fix gear. Tools can be lost or stolen, but skills live in your head. In SHTF, you are your best resource.

Sanitation can save more lives than first aid. Without clean habits, you’ll face sickness that takes you down faster than hunger. Stock soap, bleach, wipes, and trash bags. A clean camp is a safe camp.
Don’t just “own” your preps—test them. Live for 3–5 days on your stored food, water, and power sources. This stress test reveals what’s missing and builds confidence for the real thing.
The time to make friends is before disaster. Build a trusted network with neighbors and other preppers now. In a crisis, a strong community is worth more than any stockpile.
A good knife is a prepper’s best friend. It’s your tool for shelter, food prep, defense, and survival. Keep one on you, one in your pack, and know how to sharpen it.
