I will be taking part in the Golden Globe Race 2022 on the Bayanat. It is a big thing for me and here is why. On 18 Sep 2018, I was racing in the south Indian Ocean when we were caught in an unusual storm which claimed two of the three boats in its way. Mine was one of them.

We've the most experienced #offshore crews flying in B'bay High, who know the area like back of their hand. But not a single 🚁 with a rescue winch or basic SAR eqpt. No client, operator or ministry has ever shown interest, always falling back on IN/CG assets. Can we change this?

#OnThisDay 1967 the Survey ship HMS DAMPIER returned to HMNB Chatham under sail.Whilst returning to UK after nearly 20 years in Singapore, she lost her starboard shaft off Africa and with 3000 miles to run decided to rig sails to gain an extra 1/2 Knot to get home for Xmas.
