Hard to believe this was my first time meeting @JWarrenMD in real life! We became friends @LambdaSchool when we realized we were interviewing at all the same companies & connected over being career changers with midwestern roots. Here we are in LA as iOS devs with actual JOBS lol

Happy end to #WWDC21 ! Last year, it was just 2 days before WWDC that I received my offer to join . As I watched I was in awe, disbelief, & I couldn’t imagine what it would feel like to be in the shoes of these engineers, watching their work released to the world. This year:

I’ve been paying back the student loans I took out for undergraduate & masters degrees in education for 8 years. This week was my 12th week as an iOS engineer at Apple & last night I had enough $ from my signing bonus + 3-months salary to pay off ALL OF IT. And it feels amazing.

I got invited to a 6-hr virtual interview day with the team I interviewed with last week. This will be my first interview-marathon so I’m feeling: 🤩 🥵 🤓 🥳 😵 🤢 and just trying to keep breathing!

I had an interview w/ 🍎 today- 3 hrs before the interview I said to my husband, “if I had any idea before this career change what it’s like to feel what I feel right now- the crippling anxiety before an interview, I wouldn’t have taken one more step into this field.” It’s rough.

I’m always creating strategies to get through situations that are tough or don’t come naturally to me. Today’s situation: I’m overwhelmed by all that I don’t know & feel like a bad developer. Strategy: Move to the room with the xmas tree & light candles. We’ll see if it works!

I zoomed w/ a friend from @LambdaSchool today to work through a bug I’d been totally stumped on. It’s SO nice to get new 👀 sometimes, I just shocked myself by saying “I wish it was tomorrow already so I didn’t have to go to sleep right now & could just start coding again.” 😱

Something that really stuck with me from the #WomenInTech Breakfast was @jennielees ‘s description of the people in her life that seem to “drip wisdom.” I’ve been thinking about who those people are for me and how I can make sure to take steps towards them.

I’m reflecting today on how a year ago I was agonizing over making the decision to leave teaching & start studying iOS dev @LambdaSchool. I was afraid to lose my students & this part of my identity. I knew there was much to gain, but I couldn’t have imagined HOW MUCH. What a ride
