Governor Tiff Macklem: “We’ve come a long way in the fight against inflation, and recent progress is encouraging. We want to see this progress sustained.” bit.ly/4aJucrz #cdnecon
@bankofcanada Agreed. The second you lower rates it'll be a free for all.
@bankofcanada Why is achieving a 2.0% inflation target deemed so crucial, rather than 2.1%, 2.2%, 2.3%, 2.4%, or even 2.5%? I find this quite puzzling.
@bankofcanada Maintaining high interest rates puts small businesses in a difficult position, struggling to survive, and keeps the unemployment rate elevated. Additionally, it burdens homeowners with high mortgage rates. A balanced fiscal policy is more appropriate.
@bankofcanada In early 2020, many homebuyers secured 5-year fixed rate mortgages at 2.39%. Upon renewal just 10 months later, they could encounter rates more than double, severely impacting family finances. BoC should consider more than just hard data and take steps to support these families.
@bankofcanada Interest rates are extremely low. So if you cut them, spending will explode.
@bankofcanada One more hike needed to crush the speculators completely that are hanging by the thread.
@bankofcanada Way to go!!! Keep putting the squeeze on hard working Canadians!!! Resign Tiff!!!!
@bankofcanada Dont drop the interest rates please 🙏
