The most important career advice I can think of: Make sure you’re a specialist in something before becoming a generalist (e.g. manager). Not because of the knowledge, but to know how it feels when you truly know and understand a topic - and when you don’t.

If you are new to flying RC helicopters or planes, I highly recommend practicing with a computer flight trainer. They aren't perfect, but they will save you a lot of time and money (from all your inevitable crashes). I started with Real Flight (realflight.com)

Use thread lockers like Loctite to keep screws and bolts secure during flight. Vibrations during flight can loosen critical hardware. Note: there are different thread lockers for metal vs plastic hardware. Make sure you use the correct one for your application.

Avoid battery fires: Always store Lithium-Polymer batteries at 50 percent charge to avoid damage and to maximize the life cycles of your battery. Keep them stored in a dry, temperature-controlled space. Preferably in a battery storage container. I use bat-safe.com
