An important point to remember but realistically may not always be easy to deliver. As my career develops I hope to learn more about effective and engaging learning tasks and how to prevent them from becoming a tedious project that simply keeps the students ‘busy’ #acuedu_p

I enjoyed this week’s EDFD452 tutorial on behaviour management! Was a great opportunity to seek advice regarding real life challenges we face in the classroom. I loved hearing my tutor and classmates tips. I definitely learnt a lot which I will carry over into practice! #acuedu_p

One thing I would like to learn more about from EDFD452 is how to better communicate and engage with parents involved in the school community and how to improve student learning in collaboration with parents. #acuedu_p

The most significant thing I’ve discovered during EDFD452 is how beneficial your social media presence is in contributing to your professional development. I have definitely learnt a lot by connecting with fellow teachers via twitter! #acuedu_p

Design and make: musical instruments! A great way to engage in project based learning. Yr 2 used their [science] knowledge of sound: how sounds are made, how we hear sounds, pitch, and forces that make sounds. Ss constructed their own instruments according to a criteria #acuedu_p

I have been seeing different ways to positively manage the classroom that directly involves students! Noise level systems and “positive behaviour” pasta or sprinkle jars are a few really motivate the students to learn and be their best selves… with an incentive of course 😂✨ !!

I love the emphasis schools are placing on mental health amongst staff and students. Asking students to share what zone they’re in during the morning is a great way to make them feel cared for in an environment which can be anxiety-inducing for some. #acuedu_p

This morning I struggled with distracted/chatty students so I had to ensure that my afternoon instructions were highly explicit.I spent some of my lunch writing out clear instructions.The Ss came in ready to go with clear steps and a positive final goal to work towards! #acuedu_p

Very interesting! Even for those starting prac at the end of the year, it’s never too early to learn something new. Might even be able to carry over some of those tips into your casual teaching days #acuedu_p

Dictation sessions are a great opportunity to find out students’ understanding of graphemes and phonemes! (eg see below: picture/‘picha’) Giving them the chance to mark their own work once finished (before checking it myself) also allows for a deeper learning experience #acuedu_p

As a casual I’ve found that as soon as I assign a learning activity to a class, someone is always quick to jump up and recommend that I put ‘bouncy balls’ on. Initially I was skeptical, thinking it would cause a distraction but students seem to really respond well to it!#acuedu_p

Assessment is a tool used by educators to reflect on not only our students’ learning needs, but also on our own performance as teachers. Finding out what needs to be done to ensure students of varying abilities are catered to accordingly,and evolving in our own practice.#acuedu_p

Week 3 down. Amazing teaching the Transition unit this year with so many PSTs with full time, permanent and casual days. Theory has become reality. The focus on prof. learning is about now for most to improve their professional practice. Never has it been so real! #acuedu_p
