Living with trauma is itself a trauma. It's not "just" about what happened "back then." It's also the however many years since of flashbacks, nightmares, dissociation, body memories, mood swings-- & the struggle to pretend it's all, you know, just a scratch. A mere flesh wound.

Thank you insurance, I am now completely out of humalog. Awesome. Thankful I live with other t1d, or I’d be in DKA rn. Haven’t had a pump since yesterday. Just existing on novolog. 🫠

Opinion If you're not a diesel mechanic you don't repair/tear apart the diesel engine Similarly, if you're not a pain specialist or have a close working patient relationship you don't mess with someone's long term stability by messing with their meds thoughtlessly

Complex trauma survivors often have this paradox going on where we really want to be invisible to most of the world, to stay safe-- but we really, really want to be seen by very specific people. And it's really triggering to feel invisible or disposable to those certain people.

It's not the dependence on opioids that puts CPPs at risk, it's the dependence on the doctor who prescribes it. It causes a complete imbalance of power, and with cops practicing medicine - often the doctor isn't even the one w the power. It's the DEA. We MUST get DEA oversight.
