Your life on earth, even if it lasts 98 years, is just a tiny grain of sand compared to eternity. Imagine all the grains of sand in the universe: vast, yet still finite. But eternal life after death is limitless and beyond measure. Each of us faces a choice: to spend that eternal existence in endless joy or in unending suffering. The time to decide is not tomorrow, not later today, but this very moment. Right now is your chance to step off the path of judgment, like dodging an oncoming train and find safety in Jesus Christ. Jesus did not come merely so you could wake up healthy each day, go to work, enjoy a comfortable life, and then eventually die. He came to give you eternal life; that is what truly matters. The life you have now serves one purpose: to prepare for eternity. That preparation means accepting Jesus Christ and turning away from hypocrisy, theft, even the smallest dishonesty, unfaithfulness, and all forms of immoral living. The joy that comes from God is the peace of knowing the truth and being ready for eternity. If you spend your short time on earth ignoring that this life is like stretching your ankles before a marathon, you will have missed the point completely. As the apostle Paul said, “Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men” (2 Corinthians 5:11). I would rather lose everything on earth so that one person does not miss out on eternal life. Don’t delay. Eternity is too long to be wrong.
