On every clinical rotation as a med student or resident, you will be asked something by an attending that you don't know. It is IMPOSSIBLE to prepare for all questions. Don't panic. Use it as an opportunity to show that can handle not knowing things.

Unfortunately, there are many people we’re unable to help with Western medicine. Some of these people try alternative/naturopathic medicine and some of them get relief with these treatments. This is a good thing. Love when people get better no matter how it happens.

Almost every day in medicine I’m faced with something I don’t know. This happens even in my area of expertise: EKGs, echos, cardiac disease. I often have to ask for help, look stuff up. Not knowing in medicine isn’t a weakness, it’s normal.

When I was a student, I thought the attendings knew everything. When I was an attending, I thought I was the only one who didn't know everything. Then I realized no one knows everything. Wish I had discovered this much, much earlier.

It’s not fair but many medical students get bad evaluations for behaving like the interns/residents. Don’t join in the bitch sessions, cut out early, eat during rounds, put your feet up on the desk, whatever. Play it by the book even if others on your team do not.

In NYC today for a consulting meeting with McGraw Hill. Its been 3 months since the sale of Boards and Beyond. Incredible people running the company now. No pricing changes. And lots of exciting things in the pipeline for the website.

When someone posts a medical image on social media (Xray, EKG, etc) and says “What’s the diagnisis?” about 99% of people don’t know the answer. But only the 1% that do know the answer will comment. Gives the appearance everyone knows when they don’t.
