These charts illustrate how important signal priority will be for Cincinnati's proposed BRT system. Consolidating stops costs nothing and will likely be the biggest time saver for our BRT. Signal priority only costs about $25k an intersection but the City has to approve it.
@bufordsharkley @GeorgeSpies8 Sales taxes will always be unstable to some degree, but VTA has figured out how to mitigate the instability. They use conservative sales tax projections for the budget and have reserve policies so that cash is on hand to make up for short-term sales tax declines.

@INTJTexan @infraexplained @fawfulfan The government has given you a precious right, the right to deny others the liberty of using the parcel of land your home sits on. Property taxes (at least those falling on land---and land is the component that appreciates) are the price you pay for that.
@INTJTexan @fawfulfan Because your home value increased by that much, its to incentivize you to sell and something denser being developed there making home prices cheaper again and then taxes lower again
@INTJTexan @fawfulfan Families that are struggling with bills don’t get the cheap rates. The low rates are only for people who have owned their house for a long time. Struggling families are forced out because they can’t afford housing.
What if—and I'm just spitballing here—we put some seats in the giant and beautiful room that was built to have seats, and had seats for 100 years until like 5 years ago? I know I know. "But the poors might sit in them sometimes." Go off.
@Yelix Yes! Zero tolerance. Leave the theater if you need to check your phone. Designate certain screenings "no phone zones" with zero tolerance. That, of course, extends to otherwise disruptive behavior. Would love to see how filled the phone friendly theaters would be.
@niche_caesar @Yelix They advertise the length of the movie so you know how much time you'll be in the theater! I would find you extremely annoying and distracting for your checking your apple watch during a movie and I'm sure others have too.
i think that we as a society are slowly losing the battle against people who think it's ok to pull out their phones at the movie theater and we need to fight back
this is one thing that the teens are just unequivocally wrong about. we don't need to leave any space for the young person perspective on this one
say it with me: we want haptic feedback. we want tactile switches and dials. we dont want stupid touch screens that glitch, provide zero feedback, and force you to look at them. technology is stupid. modern engineers are stupid. can someone help silicon valley
