Since Bun implements Node.js APIs and Web APIs, there’s not a ton to learn for Bun specifically — and we like it that way. Bun has APIs too, but we lean a lot on existing APIs like fetch(), Request, and Response.
@bunjavascript Bun and Biome together have replaced around 30 previously separate dependencies, plugins, build steps, and altogether eliminated a mountain of complexity for our team All while speeding up every aspect of our tech Good things start with B :)
@bunjavascript @jarredsumner When is Bun replacing my computer
@bunjavascript I'm waiting on the time when we can use Bun for Next.js apps before properly committing time into it, just because I think using 2 different runtimes at work would be a hard sell to my boss. Do you have any idea when/if this might be possible? Excited to simplify the toolchain!
@bunjavascript And Deno is [all above] + prettier + tslint + tsc Prefer JS ecosystem: use Bun. Prefer strict TS ecosystem: use Deno. Bun’s TS "support" is effectively "don’t ask, don’t tell"
@bunjavascript Bun is so good, and it's getting better. Using it run Elysia APIs, install packages, run scripts,, etc. can't wait for more support for frontend frameworks.
@bunjavascript It's not related, but do you plan to any Prettier successor? I mean, we need Bun speed while formatting.
@bunjavascript where does bun officially recomend to see patterns for new development and learning it ?
@bunjavascript @jarredsumner Jest parity is not really there yet though, missing a few critical APIs and JSDOM support. HappyDOM is unusable for any serious codebase.
@bunjavascript I love the way we progress on the web, new tools are being built with zig, rust, go. then eventually we replace js one a for all xD
@bunjavascript While one is on the path of unlearning, they might as well consider unlearning @reactjs in favour of @htmx_org (trust me, i'm co-CEO of @htmx_org).
@bunjavascript Call me when u have Nextjs alternative
@bunjavascript Will it replace npx? Last time i try bunx, it still require node
@bunjavascript Current ai tools that integrate with an ide like Replit and cursor, they don’t have knowledge of what bun is, is there a short but great explanation for the uses of bun to give the ai
@bunjavascript Bunlearning gets rid of headaches.
@bunjavascript My last wish would be to end the framework hell somehow.
@bunjavascript bun is dog doo doo can't port code from nodejs to it cause guess what, deps not compatible cause u dont implement repl n other stuff "but MUH it's fast", yeah and not working
