Re-reading this book for the first time since high school was an incredibly moving experience. Having turned from God for years and returned to a life with faith since then I found A Prayer for Owen Meany even more compelling in my 30s. In addition to charming depictions of life in the 50s and the turbulence of the 60s, it’s themes of trust in God, heroism, belief in fate and miracles and the humility to be used as God’s instrument should touch any person who believes or struggles to believe. A must read.
