Virginia Tech researchers developing portable COVID AIR tests | Imagine being able to walk into a crowded store, restaurant or movie theater & be able to detect if there’s COVID-19 in Virginia Tech is developing a portable rapid test for the air. #coviddcnewsnow.com/whats-going-ar…
So,we KNOW that poor indoor air quality affects physical & mental health, cognitive functioning, & academic success.
So WHY do we settle for air quality like THIS ⬇️⬇️⬇️ in an Ontario school portable where students & teacher report chronic headaches?🤢😡

After six months of work and countless hours, I will be presenting tomorrow to therapists in training! I didn’t see anything like this within the field so I decided to make it myself!
Meanwhile, UK classrooms are typically poorly ventilated, particularly in winter when windows are closed.
A CO₂ level ~800ppm indicates a well ventilated space.
Below are CO₂ levels for a typical UK classroom.
This is v poor ventilation.

Good the see the EPA is lowering the PM2.5 levels to reach some higher levels of air quality but disappointing to see their annual standard was only reduced to 9 ug/m^3 while the 2021 WHO target was 5 and they kept the 24 hour standard at 35 ug/m^3 while the WHO target is 15.

I'm wondering if people who are still covid cautious & never dropped mitigations are actually people who understand grief on another level. I grieved the world changing in 2020 & have been able to continue mitigations without denial. Maybe we're the people who grieved?
In all honesty
I don’t really miss
who I was before this
for I haven’t changed
particularly much
a few more gray hairs,
a bit more tired,
some outfit additions,
but who I am now
is mostly who I was,
what I miss
what I really miss
is who I thought
other people were
before this.
I’ve been wearing a surgical mask at work for the past week, roughly 76 hours over 5 days. I know there are concerns about how masking affects health, wellness, and human connection, so I would like to offer a thread detailing the various ways that this has affected me:

No. We had SARS1 which was declared airborne. N95s & air filtration worked then and they still work. The conclusion from SARS1: if there is ANY chance of airborne transmission, immediately exercise the precautionary principle and do NOT wait for the science to be definitive!(1/2)

I smell smoke in my house. It’s not immediately obvious anything is burning. My husband tells me we should leave as a precaution, but I am comfortable in my chair, and besides, it will be time for bed soon.
He quickly grabs a few things and important papers. I open a beer. 🧵
The pandemic can never be stopped until we acknowledge & accept that 60% of transmission is asymptomatic & do something about it.
Like wear N95s in hospitals.
For all patients.
Not just the 40% who show symptoms.
You never know who has what, where or when.
Plan for it.

One year ago, I tested positive for Covid for the first time. I felt pretty damn sick, so I was a little worried but hoping & thinking I’d be ok within a few weeks. After all, my immune system didn’t seem too bad, and everyone kept telling me it wasn’t a big deal anymore. 1/

Hearing variations of, “Why bother continuing to be #COVID19 conscious?”
Rates are high everywhere. #LongCovid poses a significant risk with repeat infections. Healthcare is already overwhelmed.
As 2023 ends, act like we’re in this together. Please #MaskUp. Stay home if sick.
@1goodtern Good luck everyone, see you the other side of the Covid Armageddon about to hit the UK. There’s no Noah’s Ark to hide in but Windows if Masks are not available can be your lifeboat.
