For a simple count with no scientific rigor behind it, the bridge count actually tracks fairly well historically with the states final harvest estimates in the UP.

Quite a weekend. Spent some time at a saw whet owl banding station. The pink glow is the presence of the pigment porphyrin under a black light. It’s used to help age owls, with brighter colors indicating a younger individual.
