Seeing posts celebrating a new study that shows vaccines reduce Long COVID risk by 40%. While this is great news, Long COVID is a serious life changing illness. Would we celebrate a vaccine that only reduced Measles by 40% & society just let it rip otherwise?
(Please get vaxxed/boosted, but I will never stop saying we shouldn't have opened up society w zero mitigations until we had an actual effective vaccine for #LongCovid)
@chantz_y Yep 40% decrease is great! Every little bit helps! But decreasing a 1 in 10 to a 1 in 20 isn't... Isn't really fixing the problem
@chantz_y I mean it's probably an F if we want to assign a school grade level.
@chantz_y Unless I’m misreading this, it doesn’t prevent LC at all. For anyone. So, if you’re vaxxed and lucky the first time, the second, third, or fourth infection could be the one that gives you LC.
@chantz_y Long Covid, however the vaccine significantly reduces the chance of death from Covid-the whole purpose of it.
@chantz_y Given how infectious sars2 is we need long covid risk reduced by 99.99999% at least through pharmaceuticals before I take off my mask.
@chantz_y Exactly, while it is good news more people are left with Long COVID than not. Also, vaccination rates are dismal bc there’s been no coordinated campaign.
