After many years of asking, I finally managed to employ contractors to renovate my square and what a great job. I think the days of doing this job with pedestrian equipment and spreading loam by hand ought to be over. Clubs need to budget for this job.

The test match between England and Ireland was according to Joe Root played on a poor pitch. Sometimes bowlers are just better than the batsmen. At grass roots cricket groundsmen try to produce the best pitches possible with the resources (time, equipment, money) available.
