This Parkour Robot can jump twice its height and length 💥 Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute have developed a robot capable of parkour on a small low-cost system with a single front-facing depth camera for perception. The team show how a single neural net operating directly from a camera image, trained in simulation with large-scale RL, can overcome imprecise sensing and actuation to achieve highly precise control. With this approach the autonomous robot can perform a high jump 2x its height, long jump 2x its length, do a handstand and run across tilted ramps. #robotics #autonomy #neuralnet #AI
@circuitrobotics Eventually we will combine these as *parts* of an AI brain. This will be the motor cortex. An LLM will be Broca's area. Another part will be a pre-frontal cortex, where planning is done. Short term memory & double-checking of the LLM answers before commiting. All diff hardware.
