We just announced GitHub Copilot Free, available for everyone in @code So what does this new free tier actually mean? 🧵
First off, all you need is a GitHub account. No trial. No subscription. No credit card required. Yes, really.
@code This is incredible! Making these powerful tools accessible to everyone will definitely boost productivity and creativity in coding 👏
This is great, I'm wondering as I get into a deeper dive if I'll have that free-mium vibe though. Just when the code is almost there, it hits rate limits. Almost as if with other models just when they finally get the groove, ya get hit with a wall of limits (or i prefer to say a touch grass moment for a more positive spin on it).
@code will give it a try for microlaunch.net v2 already using AI coding editors for it ;)
@code It means you get 50 questions a month, which is about 1 day of work depending on how much you ask follow up questions and how much you iterate on the code and interface. Not actually usable for real work, since there are 20 days in a month.
@code can we exclude data from training for the free tier?
@code just shifted to web storm becuase vs was taking too much resources on cpu and memory , please fix that
@code We’d love to see a detailed comparison between Copilot and Cursor. Which one’s better for boosting productivity? 🤔
@code We have also published this news in Blackslate. blackslate.io/news/github-co…
@code That you only get 50 completions a month
@code Does it still give the warning about public code like the paid version?
@code Is it totally free or just a free tier?
@code Now @cursor_ai have to compete against big tech companies @github +@Microsoft
@code There should be shortcut like Ctrl +k and ctrl + l like we do in cursor
@code Can i log in, take my api key and just use nvim instead? Thanks
