Wow! The CEOs of the largest companies and nonprofits in the United States have joined forces to make computer science a basic part of the K-12 curriculum. See who’s on board: ceosforcs.com
This unprecedented coalition unites the largest tech companies with leaders across sectors, such as @AmericanExpress, @ATT, @Delta, @Nike, @Starbucks, @UPS, @Walgreens, and national education organizations like @khanacademy and the American Federation of Teachers (@AFTunion).
@codeorg This is so fantastic! Even if you don't end up becoming a programmer, it's a great foundation. I don't technically practice Metallurgical Engineering but that degree taught me critical reasoning skills that serve me today!!
@codeorg Back when I taught computer programming (C++) and website design to high school kids pre-2000, both were elective classes. Because I wanted every kid possible to learn some computer science, I told anyone on the fence that I’d guarantee them at least a C if they took it & tried.
@codeorg I was teaching Computer Science to 7th & 8th Grade students as far back as 1986... LOGO, BASIC, and even Math became Music with zero corporate support. Buy the supplies teachers need to teach ALL classes, not just Computer Science. And subsidize salaries & continuing teacher ed.
@codeorg That is fine, but strengthen algebra and logic behind before. Need a semester on home finances. Need a semester on civics.
@codeorg It should happen in the UK as well.
@codeorg In 1950s ppl wd b horrified at idea of "giving calculators" 2 those as young as K, b4 they learn to hand add. But 2day is essential 2 explain what computers r realistically at this early level of school & develop skills from there. Well done.
@codeorg Seeing as the future is digital. It will be an essential skill for everyone.
@codeorg CodeCombat and our CEO Nick Winter are proud to support this important initiative. Join us in making Computer Science accessible to all students. #students #computerscience
@codeorg Kudos to all the hardworking people behind the scenes and the champions that made this work👏
@codeorg I started learning computer science from my basic education at the age of 6, up till now, I'm studying computer science in the university, will bag my Bsc degree soon!
@codeorg Few things. Prefer them to read and write first, basic household finance and coding is old hat what is next.
@codeorg That's great. I also think environmental science should be as well.
@codeorg amazing 💖hope to see this happening in Malawi one day.
@codeorg Can the CEOs of the largest companies and non-profits also partner to install Google Lens at the entryways of all K-12 schools at no cost? Google Len can recognize an assault rifle then alert teachers & authorities saving lives ❤️ #ProtectOurChildren #Uvalde #EndGunViolence
@codeorg What an amazing opportunity for students everywhere! Thank you for making this happen. #csforall #csforgood #kidscancode
@codeorg We haven't been doing that for the last 10 years? Yikes. Add in some business classes, financial portfolio advice, and vocational classes for simple plumbing and electrical work, and we'll be way more self sufficient.
@codeorg Kids don't want to learn, maybe if this thing was something like a game, without punishments, they'll actually learn something. The people who created the system obviously didn't care about their happiness, but kids are not that powerless
@codeorg Did it really take Bill 50 years to get behind/on board with this?
@codeorg He’s such a liar! He puts that money in his foundation and draws it right back out. I don’t trust him AT ALL! He will make our country worse not better, Mark my words. 😡
