After a failed coding interview, how do you move on? 😢
@codewithvoid Practically: learn more & practice. Mentally: a mindset of abundance as opposed to scarcity. Instead of dwelling on the past more than necessary, focus on the opportunities ahead.
@codewithvoid Failing an interview sucks 😭 I just do a retrospective... What went wrong? What I could have done better? What should I learn so I don't repeat the same mistakes the next time? It's a learning opportunity...
@codewithvoid After failing an interview, write down the following: -Things that went well -Things that went wrong Give yourself some rest (interviews are stressful), learn from your mistakes, and go again for the next. Every failed interview is an opportunity to learn something new!
@codewithvoid Take the learning, not stop believing in myself, not quitting practice, apply to other jobs, perform much better than previous interviews. Applying this until I get a job! Not quitting even after getting one! Ps: Not forgetting to appreciate myself for getting to the interview
@codewithvoid Plan B: Start a company and become a billionaire
@codewithvoid apply to another interview, review what went wrong, prepare those topics
@codewithvoid Interview and apply somewhere else. Failure happens. Part of what we do. Every rejection taught me what I didn’t know and eventually lead me down the right path for me 🍻
@codewithvoid Long story short: Be honest with yourself and ask Yourself. Either company don't deserve you, or you gotta work on yourself.
@codewithvoid I just move on. However, after every interview, I take notes and reflect, even if I did well: tigerabrodi.blog/interviewed-by… This has made the interview process for me extremely learningful.
@codewithvoid I'm so sorry. I've been there. It is brutal but it definitely happens to everyone, regardless of level. Many people are saying you can learn from it and grow. But also maybe you can just discard it. Many failed interviews are not about the interviewee. Just remember who you are.
@codewithvoid @Abimbol86847923 The resources you have access to are much greater than a coding clown interview. So: 1) work harder, 2) wasn't your time or not the job you need.
@codewithvoid Move forward and on to the next one. I had to go through this earlier last year and did like 12 of basically the same interview.
@codewithvoid Go out , take a fresh breath , have a coffee.
@codewithvoid Understand your perceived weaknesses: Practice "the other" moves and compare. In hacker terms: There is what feels like a million different ways to fail. Try them all on your code.
@codewithvoid Coding interviews are stupid so no one should sweat failing one.
@codewithvoid 1. Take notes on everything you didn't know 2. Double down on that for the next one 3. Keep on going Always remember it's a chances game as well.
@codewithvoid After my failed interview, I came back and ran the whole thing in my head. I realized that I made a few mistakes that needed correcting. Watch out for these mistakes 👇
@codewithvoid Make sure that you know how to do the problems you struggled with 1000% and keep stepping forward
@codewithvoid Get all the feedback possible and grow from it. Take it as learning opportunities. Celebrate progress and eventually you will make it. There are many companies to practice and there is nothing wrong trying again at the same company after 1 or 2 years.
@codewithvoid Try and try and try again. I wish I had a dollar for every interview I failed. I'd be worth well over $100 😂
@codewithvoid Don't prepare for the interview, prepare for the job. Interview will just come naturally to you...
@codewithvoid Bombing an interview doesn't mean you've failed. Maybe they're a bad fit. Maybe you need a few more skills. Maybe just a bad interview. Treat yourself cuz you tried, learn what you can, & move on. You'll have many interviews over a career. Get good at winning and losing.
@codewithvoid Find the nearest ice cream shop and treat yourself to a triple scoop of your favorite flavor. Remind yourself that every coding interview is just a practice run for the next one. And finally, channel your inner Beyonce and say to yourself, 'I'm a survivor, I'm not gon' give up😌
@codewithvoid Keep practicing. Find out why you failed the interview. Deep down we always know where we went wrong.
@codewithvoid Reflecting on what went wrong & right and taking notes. Then keep practicing 👊🏼
@codewithvoid I had to send my response via DM because it's lengthy. I hope it inspires you for the next challenge.
@codewithvoid What do you mean by how? I just move on. It's like asking how you eat apple, I just eat the apple.
