"I don't think God punishes people for specific things. I think he punishes them in general for no reason."
@codinghorror This is the arrogant way of people thinking life owe them something , while it has been gifted to them. And then if suddenly something happens not as expected they complain about being "punished". But have you been thankful in the first place for all the gifts you are receiving
@codinghorror Reminds me of a quote from "Out of Africa" - "When God wants to punish you, He answers your prayers."
@codinghorror What's this "God" you speak of? Some sort of myth to resolve internal conflicts and organize large groups of primates?
@codinghorror Nobody hurts you harder than yourself - Graham Parker
@codinghorror God does not punish. It’s like saying, a programmer created a game where random balls bounce off the edges and get destroyed when they bounce against certain coloured balls. Should a ball complain the programmer of punishment?
@codinghorror Seeing the order of the universe we should understand there is a creator
@codinghorror People mostly punish themselves and try to blame someone else.
@codinghorror Damn right! And the reason is only a reason searched for.
@codinghorror We model our concepts of God on our own experiences and decisions.
