Shampoo is out of the bottle! Preprint: "Second order optimization made practical" arxiv.org/pdf/2002.09018… We train certain neural nets faster than before. How fast ? It has shown upto ~40% reduction in training time for a Transformer. (@tomerikoriko)

This screenshot shows that there are still quite a number of homozygous islands (~ 100 to 200kb) of the HG002 MHG region. We will need multiple data type / different and quick assembly strategy to resolve the full haplotypes.
