Once again, American healthcare is biting me. My family is fully insured, and my wife had a procedure done in January. Our insurance provider is not paying for it because it doesn’t meet our deductible, so I have to pay 100% out of pocket. Why am I paying these folks?
@csharpfritz American healthcare stuff is so confusing (& expensive)
@csharpfritz I'd also counter - why does my doctor think its ok to charge $500 for a 10min consult for an upcoming simple procedure? I think it was $10 per word uttered out of his mouth. Insurance cut the negotiated charge in half, but still, the audacity to make up a price.
@csharpfritz I recently started tuning into US tv (after watching Super Bowl) and I can’t believe your tv adverts. It’s like 90% pharmaceutical companies… I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s mental how taking pills is such big business
@csharpfritz I think the real question is: Why do USA think this is okay?
@csharpfritz Health insurance expert here - do you have a high-deductible HSA plan?
@csharpfritz I hate our healthcare system. I had to go through 4 insurance companies and 3 employers finally find one that would pay for my cancer treatment.
@csharpfritz Healthcare in this country needs some work, that's for sure.
@csharpfritz After the deductible are you fully covered?
@csharpfritz Insurance companies are the biggest scams
@csharpfritz I’m loving jumping onto my wife’s HMO plan this year. Just got a bill from my daughter who’s at college. Was $300 and we paid 25. I’m loving this. HDHP are great when your 21 but once married and kids come.. time to get out!!
@csharpfritz Because if you don't you will catch an extra tax from the IRS. It is an abusive system.
@csharpfritz I've never understood why there is a deductible. What is the point of insurance if I have to pay full price?
@csharpfritz It sucks. And also imagine what folks trying to found startups deal with. They literally put their health at risk too by having basically no insurance at all. Good luck if you have a family too. It's all broken.
@csharpfritz Ahhh remember the days when there was no deductible...
@csharpfritz I was speaking to a doctor a few days ago. He spends much of his day revising "codes" to codes that charge higher costs to the patient or deny coverage. Has nothing to do with real medicine. Most countries recognized these problems 80 years ago and went to NHS systems .
@csharpfritz As a stupid fucking argument this seems like the prime candidate for some crypto conversations. People wanna overthrow corrupt systems, go after insurance.
@csharpfritz the conclusion i came to quickly was that i was paying about 13K/yr to have an insurance card
