Re Mellish… I just don’t get it. I mean his commitment in our shirt could never be questioned, but I don’t get the clamour for him to come back. Far too many glaring costly errors for my liking. MK a really good move for him though, and I wish him all the best.

Solid without being spectacular. Never really felt we were in danger of letting it slip, and could have scored more. We can be so much better though and we’ll need to be as the season progresses. Win is all that matters today. #cufc

Every man and their dog could see that midfield needed prioritised and properly strengthened over the summer. What we put out tonight was worse than Barclay-Neal-Vela that we started last season with. Very concerning that Hughes saw that as our best options tonight. #cufc

I’m afraid I’m seeing absolutely nothing in this team that suggests we can even challenge for a playoff spot let alone promotion. That midfield today was as bad as I think I’ve ever seen. Long hard season ahead. #cufc

On the plus side, we’re 2 points better off than we were after 2 games of our 04/05 NL promotion team. And we actually threw away a 2 goal lead in our second game that season too. #cufc
